History of FBC Christian Youth Camp
The FBC Christian Youth Camp, Inc. began as a group of concerned Christians who wished to a have a campground facility for summer youth camps and Christian meetings and retreats. They wanted this camp to be run and maintained by a Christian Board of Directors. The first organizational meeting was held in late 1997. The campground was incorporated and obtained its 501(c)(3) status as a non-profit organization on April 28, 1998. The campground owns over 30 acres of land in rural Clay County that was donated by a local resident.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held on June 5, 1999. Almost immediately earthwork was began to install roads within the campground. In early 2002, the campground received a wonderful blessing. The Men and Women of Action, an outreach mission group of the Church of God, approved the campground as a work project. This group volunteers their time to travel all over the world to build churches and other related projects. After many hours of preparation, in July of 2002 over 150 people from all over the United States came to work at the campground over a 2-week period of time. During those two weeks, construction began to build 10 cabins. After the work group left, local residents have continued working to complete the cabins

In 2003, a caretaker’s house/office was added at the main entrance of the campground. Once they moved in, they became available to give tours of the campground to interested parties, provide a central office for phone calls, and to serve as a watchman for the campground.

Summer 2007 - The mound septic system is installed and functioning and the East shower house is completed except for some minor interior work yet to be completed.

 Future Plans
One of the major points of emphasis of the original board of directors was that the campground be built as funds became available. This decision was based on a great faith in God to provide as needed and the wish that the campground not acquire a great financial debt. God has been wonderful and generous. Many persons and organizations from all over Indiana have been moved to donate to the construction projects of the campground. However, there is still much to be done and the final cost estimate for the campground is over one million dollars. If you would like more information about making a tax-deductible donation, please contact the campground caretaker.

Work on a design and set of plans for the kitchen/dining hall/meeting room are underway.  We hope to have the plans completed and permits obtained by the end of 2007. Construction on the shell of the building shell should start in 2008.

We would also like to start the shell of the west shower house in 2008.

The projected capacity of the campground at completion is 350 people.
